Gamma Alpha Bulletin

Vol 17 No 3. November/December 1996

President's Message
Dear Sisters,

We had a wonderful night in October with our drapings and make-overs. When you come to the November meeting, you may not recognize some of us! I had my last chemo treatment and I get all of the diagnostic results on the night of our auction. I will not be able to make dinner, but I will be at the auction celebrating. I hope to see many of you and your friends there.

Alice

Alice Duke is the proud grandmother of a little boy. Daughter Nicole and baby are doing fine. Congratulations, grandma!

Gamma Alpha received its first E-mail message from Evelyn Nash, president of Zeta Chapter. It said, "Hi! I noticed your web site address in your Gamma Alpha Bulletin and decided it could not be ignored. What a great idea to be on the Web with Delta Kappa Gamma. Sure beats the brochure idea by a giant step. Best of luck with your site. I hope it gets visited constantly. I like the idea of having past issues of your newsletter available. Thanks for the visit."

LETTER FROM ABBY ROCHE

Dear Gamma Alpha Sisters,

I wish I could express how much the flowers and all your cards have made me feel. You have really lifted my spirits. June through September tests were frightening with each one. However, I can report I have a negative result for malignancy on all tests at this time. I’m told they will keep close watch due to the enlarged lymph node which was removed on August 8th. It was felt that signaled the presence of cancer and it was first a question of locating it. I must keep in mind that cancer has not been found. Consequently, I am now optimistic.

Please call if you should be driving to Florida. We are 6 ½ miles west of I-75 on SW 200 in Ocala. I would love to treat you to lunch or dinner. We do not cook these days. We live on Lean Cuisine and the Schwan delivery man.

I look forward to each newsletter. The HOSTS program was of great interest to me this month. I do so miss seeing you.

Thank you again for your thoughtfulness. It was wonderful to be remembered.

As ever,
Abby

(For our newer members, Abby is one of the founding members of Gamma Alpha. She was a Learning Consultant in Wayne-Westland and retired several years ago to Florida. She is our only Reserve member.)
