SERVICE PROJECTS REPORT

The Service Projects Committee is charged with "improving the quality of living through enriching the personal lives of members and encouraging participation in community service."

October’s meeting accomplished these goals. Liz Holland and three of her associates from Artistry Products came to our meeting armed with palettes of make-up and fabrics. They determined which colors suited all of us best, what season we were, and demonstrated make-up techniques. We all left the meeting excited about our new looks.

The committee made hygiene bags for the Wayne County Family Center. We received cosmetic donations from Merriman Drugs (Five Mile Road and Merriman) and Mindi St. Pierre, (a Mary Kay Consultant), hair care products from Maxima Salon (Seven Mile Road and Farmington), and toothbrushes/toothpaste from Hans Schwartz, DDS (Sterling Heights). We also applied for a community service donation from Target in Westland and received a $100.00 gift certificate. With a portion of our Service Project fund, we made twenty-five well-stocked hygiene bags.

The committee then delivered the bags to the shelter as well as eighteen bags of diapers. The director sent a note of thanks to Gamma Alpha from the staff from the Center. It will be shared at the November meeting.
