President's Message

"Get Smart"

The December meeting at the Fox Theater proved to be a wonderful way to begin the holiday season. A special thank you to Grace who arranged the evening and ordered such spectacular seats. All of us kick-lined up the aisle at the end of the show. Our Holiday Auction was a financial success and a delightful evening. Our Music Chairman, Carol Anderson, provided us with lovely background Christmas music. An auction report is included in the newsletter. I want to encourage all of our members to serve as talent scouts searching for key women educators whose service to education makes them ideal recipients of Invitations to Membership. We have lost five members this year. According to the Membership Initiative which the Society encourages each chapter to be a part of, each chapter should:

  • Gain 10% new members
  • Retain 95% current members
  • Reclaim 10% of former members by Reinstatement.
See all of you at the January meeting. Check the calendar for details.

Jackie

Chapter Chatter

Ladies, I'm not on the grapevine yet. I've received no phone calls or notes. Is it because my internet is still giving me trouble? I promise by next time to have an address on the net. I feel so out of the loop!

Deadline for articles for the next Bulletin is January 20th. Send your copy to Cindy Dietz. Please drop me a line!

WAYNE COUNTY FAMILY CENTER

Judy Handley, Service Project chairman, delivered nearly 80 new children's books (with Gamma Alpha's newly designed bookplate) to the Wayne County Family Center in November. The facility's administrator commented on our '97 sweatshirt project and wondered when Gamma Alpha would be returning. Judy has some project ideas she would like to share at the January meeting.
