President's Message
"Greetings from Grace"

Thank you, for helping to make the service project a success.  From the arrival of the families from the homeless shelter, until their departure you
gave much of yourselves.  Your prior planning, preparation and coordination
helped make the evening a wonderful memory.  Involving the children in acting out the story, providing the reading kits, the craft and dinner provide a fast paced activity to the families, our
membership and guests.

We have 12 women that have indicated that they are interested in joining
our chapter.  We need to welcome them into the chapter and get them involved
in committees and activities.

Committee chairman, if you have any stationary supplies left from previous committee meetings , bring them to the November meeting.

Grace

Images of Mother

4 years of age: My mommy can do anything.

12 years of age: My mother doesn’t really know quite everything.

16 years of age: She’s hopelessly old fashioned.

25 years of age: Well, she might know a little bit about it.

35 years of age: Before we decide, let’s get Mom’s opinion.

65 years of age: Wish I could talk it over with Mom.

Relaxing Rituals

Caffeine has been suspected of causing tension, so establish a healthier alternative to that daily dose of Joe by choosing another ritualistic beverage. Try starting or ending your day with fresh squeezed orange juice, a smoothie, or liquid vitamins. Consumption of vitamins such as B6 and B12 can help with stress reduction. And don’t forget that healthy glass of fresh water eight times a day!

Service Projects Report

On October 18th, the members of Gamma Alpha chapter and eleven prospective members met with the families of the Wayne County Family Center.  Dr. Johnnye Summerville, principal of Elliott Elementary School welcomed the families and said a few words about Delta Kappa Gamma and our chapter service project for the community. After an impromptu puppet show about "The Three Bears" featuring children from the center, Donna Colaianne presented key features about the literacy R.E.A.D.Y. kits (Read, Educate And Develop Youth) that were given to the parents of infants, toddlers and preschoolers. School-age children were given books and bags filled with needed supplies for school.  The families and members enjoyed dinner together. The children were able to design a special bookmark until it was time for them to hop on the bus and head back to the Family Center.
