Nutrition Regimes to Keep You Rested and Healthy

Switching to a cholesterol-free diet

Whether you have been ordered by your doctor to lower your cholesterol intake or you're doing it of your own accord, the transition can be difficult. Here are some pointers to get you started.

1. Overcoming the urge to eat fatty foods is frustrating when those around you do not follow or are not supportive of your new diet. The following suggestions may help you:

2. Try grocery shopping at your local health food store. Whatever looks good to you, buy it. Start out simple with foods such as:

Veggie burgers
Vegetable soups
Pasta /Grains
Beans
Nuts
Salads
Fruit
Potatoes
Vegetables
Rice

Beware of saturated fats and foods that contain: lards, eggs, coconut oil, cream, cocoa butter, butter, palm oil, sour cream, meat, cream cheese, and whole milk.

3. Become a label reader. Watch out for hidden animal products like casein in milk and cheese. Avoid hydrogenated oils, which can contribute to the clogging of arteries.

4. Read as much as you can on the subject - articles, books, recipe books, whatever you can get your hands on.
